Locally, LOOK AT A BOOK is working with a literacy outreach program called Project Read. Project Read coordinates the literacy efforts of dozens of organizations in a three county area surrounding Dayton, Ohio. Project Read staff members link groups needing literacy support and training with volunteer tutors and corporate donors like LOOK AT A BOOK to help provide fresh reading material.

In 2008 we supplied over 6,000 books to various literacy organizations through Project Read. Our 2009 objective is to quadruple that number and provide over 25,000 books to be used in our local community.

Nationally, LOOK AT A BOOK is working with the The OCHO Project. The OCHO Project is a service learning project for elementary schools. Through the OCHO Project, children are rewarded for reading and learn the joy of helping others. Books are used to reward participants as well as to be shared with children in Title 1 schools.

Author Marilyn Perlyn created OCHO and has given much to help teach grade school children to serve and learn while building character values. Click on The OCHO Project link to learn more.
